Heidi has an extensive culinary/business background.From starting out in a pizzaria as a teenager then taking a job as a book keeper for a local roofing firm for over 12 years.Heidi and I were married in Sept of 2005 and soon after (Feb 06) purchased Spill the Beans. We Decided to take the huge jump into owning our own business. We put everything we had into this business to make it the best on Main street and beyond. Afterall, how could we fail?  With Heidi graduating from YTI Tech with an associates degree in specialized business and doing a 3 month internship at Scooters she had most of the sides covered.



 This is were my experience as a retail manager comes in. I was responsible for 20+ employees,2.8 million dollars per year  in sales and 5500+ SQ FT in retail space for over 8 years. The store I had was one of the top stores in the region for sales 3 years in a row. So with all this experience between us we figured everything was covered.


The first year was a nightmare! The back storage room was never cleaned,in fact neither was the cafe! We must have spent  at least 2 weeks going through everything. Then we found out that most of our equipment was near or past its service life. First the dishwasher broke.  I had to delime the dishwasher. Then the ice machine burnt up. No one ever cleaned the cooling fins. I rebuilt that. Then the big coffee maker burnt out. We just bought a new one. I think I rebuilt or at least tore apart and cleaned just about every piece of equipment we had. Then we decided to close for a week and install new carpet,chairs and tables and redo the floor. Oh, I forgot, we also revised the menu,that took me about 4 months to do! So with all that behind us we are ready to just run our little shop until we find out what else to change. We have some really good ideas for some BIG projects in the future,so stay tuned!
